While Scottish design is having a moment on London’s catwalks (from Christopher Kane to rising stars Henrietta Ludgate and Holly Fulton), New York’s love affair with all things Caledonian will be marked next month by Dressed To Kilt, a fundraiser hosted by Sean Connery.

In an event organised by non-profit Friends of Scotland, Vivienne Westwood and Graeme Black among others will show Scottish-influenced pieces on the catwalk, alongside work by emerging talents such as Judy Clark, who produces bespoke garments from Scottish wools and Harris Tweeds. All profits fund facilities for injured and paralysed veterans in the US and Scotland. Previous events have generated more than $100,000; organisers hope to exceed this in 2010, when funds will go to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Wounded Warriors organisation and the Erskine Hospital in Scotland.
