Does it really deliver a luminous glow to the skin?

I don’t wear foundation very often, as I don’t like to look as if I’m wearing make-up. But when Becca’s Luminous Skin Colour (£33) kept cropping up in conversations with make-up artists and beauty colleagues as the best cosmetic product for creating the illusion of glowing skin, I had to try it. This combination of tinted moisturiser and sheer foundation commands the same feverish following among beauty insiders as Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic Touch Eclat concealer.

Becca bills itself as a professional make-up brand, and outside of the industry, the product is not so well known. But does Luminous Skin Colour – which claims to offer “skincare, make-up, and SPF25 sun protection in one ingenious product” – live up to its wonderful word-of-mouth? Well it didn’t quite deliver the luminous glow that I was expecting when I tracked it down in Fenwick’s beauty hall. But yes, it does improve the complexion, it does look natural on the skin, and when I wear foundation, it has to be this one.
